HARRISBURG – On Saturday, Rep. John Schlegel (R-Lebanon) will host a Youth Trout Fishing Day for children in the 101st Legislative District.
This FREE event, which will be held rain or shine, is for youths under the age of 16 and will be held Saturday, June 3, from 8 a.m. until noon at Lion’s Lake,
2098 Water St., Lebanon. Register in advance by calling
717-838-3823 or on Saturday at Pavilion 1, near the Water Street parking entrance.
“This family-friendly event aims to introduce children to the sport of fishing and give them a greater appreciation for nature and the outdoors,” said Schlegel. “I am hopeful parents will bring their youngsters out to join us this Saturday for a morning of wholesome fun. With any luck, fishing will become an activity these children will enjoy for a lifetime.”
While there is no cost to participate, anglers must provide their own rods and tackle. Light refreshments will be provided. The Pennsylvania Fish and Boat Commission requires mentors, age 16 and older, who are fishing alongside a youth, to possess a fishing license with trout stamp.
The 101st Legislative District includes the city of Lebanon; North Lebanon, South Lebanon and West Lebanon townships; North Cornwall and West Cornwall townships; and the borough of Cornwall.
