Gebhard, Diamond, Schlegel Announce Over $2 Million in Gaming Revenue to Support Lebanon County Projects

HARRISBURG — Sen. Chris Gebhard (R-48), Rep. Russ Diamond (R-102) and Rep. John Schlegel (R-101) announced projects in Lebanon County were awarded nearly $2 million in Local Share Account (LSA) funds from the Commonwealth Financing Authority (CFA) today.

The Pennsylvania Gaming Act allocates Local LSA funds to the host county of a particular casino to help offset its impact. Diamond’s 2017 legislative effort to secure a portion of the local share assessments of Hollywood Casino proceeds solely for Lebanon County was needed due to the peculiarities of where that facility is located.

The following projects received funding through this program:

• South Lebanon Township — South Hills Park — $25,000 to purchase and install new playground equipment.
• North Cornwall Township — Neversink Fire Co. — $60,265 for paving to mitigate stormwater pooling.
• Annville Township — Utility Task Vehicle — $25,000 toward a municipal vehicle.
• Myerstown Borough – Myerstown Pool — $25,000 to repair waterlines and the water heater.
• North Annville Township — Fire Hall Generator — $25,000 to purchase a backup power source for the social hall.
• Myerstown Borough — Keystone Hook and Ladder — $26,075 to purchase and install a PPE extractor and dryer for their fire station.
• Myerstown Borough — First Aid Unit AEDs — $33,960 for the purchase of automated external defibrillator (AED) units.
• Palmyra Borough — Western Lebanon Regional Police — $28,036 to purchase upgraded firearms and associated equipment.

“I am happy to have played a role in securing these funds solely for Lebanon County,” Diamond said. “Without this gaming revenue, funding these projects would have been passed on to the taxpayers.”

The following projects were funded through the Statewide LSA Program which uses proceeds from online gaming revenue to support projects in the public interest across the commonwealth:

• Union Township — Northern Lebanon Fire and EMS — $697,870 for purchasing five new vehicles upfitted with traffic control measures.
• West Lebanon Township — Recreation Facility Renovation — $325,000 for construction of an ADA compliant bathroom, walking path, lights at the baseball field, pickleball court and basketball court.
• Cornwall Borough — Community Fire Co. — $128,452 for fire station repairs.
• North Cornwall and North Lebanon townships — Lebanon County Regional Police — $99,000 to purchase two police pursuit package vehicles.
• Heidelberg Township — Schaefferstown EMS Upgrades — $72,718 to upgrade an ambulance with a new power-operated patient stretcher.
• Jackson Township — Myerstown Water Authority — $116,830 to complete structural and stormwater remediation at the Myerstown Water Treatment Plant.
• North Cornwall Township — Expansion Project — $200,000 to construct a two-bay expansion to the township’s existing highway garage.
• Myerstown Borough — Cardiac Monitoring Systems — $169,075 to purchase three cardiac monitors.
• Heidelberg Township — Schaefferstown Fire Co. — $98,101 for nine air-pak self-contained breathing apparatus devices.

“These grants ensure our residents won’t bear the cost of these upgrades. It’s exciting to see so many crucial projects move forward in Lebanon County,” said Gebhard.

“I’m proud to help secure this funding, which will cover nearly all project costs,” Schlegel said. “Public safety, emergency services, clean water systems, expanded recreational opportunities — these grants will help keep our communities thriving.”

The CFA is an independent agency of the Pennsylvania Department of Community and Economic Development and administers the commonwealth’s economic stimulus packages.
